Windsurfing Legend
Do you recognize this guy? The one on the right, of course. Most of you will recognize his face, and some of you from the world of windsurfing have already heard of his successes. This time we would like to introduce you to a legendary man, a great sportsman who has been delighting with his successes and outstanding results in windsurfing for several decades.
We are, of course, talking about the professional windsurfer from Denmark, Björn Dunkerbeck, who has already become world champion 41 times and won the overall world championship title. Born on July 16, 1969 in Ribe, 54-year-old Björn Dunkerbeck, who is still an active sportsman, became interested in windsurfing at an early age. He developed his skills very quickly and started his professional career as a teenager. His first successes came when he was not yet 20 years old. In the years 1988-1999 he continuously won championship titles in the overall world championship. He was a multiple winner of the PWA World Championships in the speed, wave and freestyle world championship categories. Björn is also currently the fastest windsurfer in the world as he holds the current windsurfing speed record of over 53 knots.
The interesting thing is that the world record he set years ago is regularly broken by himself in a specially built water channel in Lüderitz, Namibia. Björn Dunkerbeck is not only one of the best windsurfers in the history of the sport, but also a wonderful man, father and husband, as I was able to see for myself when I visited his home island in the Canaries. The champion lives with his family on Gran Canaria, where he runs his own windsurfing school and trains other athletes, including his son Liam Dunkerbeck, who won the junior world championship title at the age of 20.

We also strongly recommend that you watch the recently made film about our star “Born to Windsurf”, which will help you get to know the character of the legendary man even better. It will certainly be an inspiration for some to try the best sport in the world, windsurfing.
